Summary
Mycoplasma-like bodies have been described in the parenchyma and companion cells of the phloem in roots of rice (Oryza sativa) plants affected by yellows-type disease. Electron microscopy autoradiographic study has shown that these forms of mycoplasmalike bodies, rich in ribosomes, incorporate thymidine-3H. This fact suggests that these organisms are mycoplasma and are capable of active multiplication.
