Summary

Intravenous injection of very small amounts of bacterial lipopolysaccharides in men is followed by a considerable stimulation of the fibrinolysis, such as occours only in severe shock.Hartert's thrombelastography is a very convenient method for controlling these processes. The importance of fibrinolysis is pointed out for treatment with pyrogens and possibly also for other forms of non-specific stimulating therapy.
