Summary
The prognosis for breast cancer is decisively determined by the stage. It is most unfavourable in later years; it is relatively unfavourable in patients under the age of 30. A medial primary localisation is more favourable than a lateral one. According to our own results, X-ray treatment did not have any positive effect on the prognosis. In patients with a low excretion rate of 17-ketosteroids the prognosis is worse than in those with a normal excretion rate. A high quotient for the estrogen excretion divided by the 17-ketosteroid excretion taken over a period of 24 h is indicative for an unfavourable prognosis. The same applies if the quotient of benzenoidsteroids divided byαβ unsaturated 3-ketosteroids in the cancerous tissue is a high one.
