After teaching in state schools and researching and teaching in Czechoslovakia, Bob Dixon is now a lecturer in English at Stockwell College of Education. He has published a number of poems and several articles on educational and literary subjects. The present article is part of a study examining the attitudes and values in children's literature as one of the necessary tasks of criticism.
