Summary
Soil-isolated alkalophilic streptomycetes were found to produce antimycin A with high frequency. One of the alkalophilic strains, strain No. 1543, produced a significant amount of antimycin A at high alkaline pH. Taxonomical studies revealed the strain wasStreptomyces baarnensis subsp.okayamanensis subsp. nov.
