Conclusions

The acidity of o-, m-, and p-barenes and some of their derivatives in various solvents was determined by polarography and potentiometric titration.

Depending on the nature of the solvent, the acidity can vary greatly, for example, in the case of o-barene the acidity increases by ten units of pKa as we go from alcohol to pyridine.
