Conclusions
-
1.
Familiarization studies have been conducted on foreign methods and Petter AV-1 and W-1 units for rating oil service properties.
-
2.
Oil tests in the Petter AV-1 unit, using 1% sulfur fuel for all oil samples, give a clear differentiation of the oils with respect to level of service properties up to and including Series I.
-
3.
DS-11 oil with the commercial additives VNII NP-360 or MNI IP-22K corresponds in service-property level to foreign oil samples of the Heavy-Duty type, with the exception of corrosion properties.
