Summary
We present the results of the internal fixation in 48 supracondylar fractures of the femur with a follow-up of 1 to 10 years.
These fractures have been classified according to the criteria proposed by the AO international. The clinical results were excellent to good in 70.9% of the cases, fair to bad in 22.9%, and failures (due to pseudarthrosis and osteomyelitis) in 6.2%.
Significantly inferior results were obtained in articular, open, and imperfectly reduced fractures. The frequent comminution of these fractures often interfered with anatomic reduction, which explains the elevated number of consolidations in varus and/or recurvation.
Zusammenfassung
Die Verfasser berichten über die Langzeitresultate der Osteosynthese von 48 suprakondylären Oberschenkelbriichen.
Solche Brüche wurden nach den von der AO International kürzlich beantragten Grundsätzen klassifiziert.
Die Beobachtungszeit liegt zwischen 1 und 10 Jahren.
Die klinischen Resultate sind in 70.9% Fällen sehr gut und gut, in 22.9% Fallen bescheiden and schlecht; die Mißerfolge (2 Pseudarthrosen and 1 Osteomyelitis) betragen 6.2%.
Deutlich schlechtere Resultate erhielt man in den offenen Gelenkbriichen Bowie in denen, wo keine Reduktion möglich war.
Wegen der häufigen Zersplitterung solcher Brüche ist oft eine anatomische Reduktion unmöglich, und damit läßt sich die große Anzahl von in Varusund/oder Recurvatusstellung konsolidierten Fälle erklären.
