The influence of pH on the localization of four phosphatases in culture cells

Summary

In cultured chicken heart myoblasts the localization of acid phosphatase, thiamine pyrophosphatase, inosine diphosphatase and adenosine triphosphatase largely depends on the pH of the incubating medium. The rate of phosphate liberation from the substrate indicates the influence of pH. In myoblasts the pH optimum of the different enzymes must not be generalized, as each pH optimum is only valid for one defined class of cytoplasmic organelles.
