Distribution of large ventral horn cells in the lumbar cord of the rat

Cell and Tissue Research Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

In relation to neurophysiological investigations the arrangement and spatial distribution of ventral horn cells in the rat lumbar cord were studied. To this purpose the lumbar segments were sectioned transversally and stained with toluidine blue. Three main types of cells labelled N1, N2 and N3 were differentiated. Type N1 was selected for further evaluation. The number of cells was determined in 100 μ. cubes. The results are displayed in form of a stereotactic microatlas.
