Summary
A continuous and two discontinuous polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis techniques for haptoglobin typing are described. Their advantages are compared with the results achieved by starch gel electrophoresis. All three techniques are equally suited for routine purposes. While the continuous PAA gel electrophoresis offers some technical simplifications, it is inferior to the disc methods with regard to separation results of the haptoglobin band spectrum.
