Abstract
Drastically increasing air pollution is an emergency now since the pollutants affect the flora and fauna in an adverse manner. This demands an easier and simple low-cost system if the solution is sustainable. Different systems that exist to identify pollution suffer from disadvantages like high cost, complex setup, non-portability of information etc. In this work a system is proposed to monitor air pollution and communicate the vital information to different agencies for taking further action. Since general public also are included, this system will help in bringing awareness in them. The system can be operated by the authorized personnel living in the locality. The system is enabled with a mobile application through which relevant updates of the pollution level of the locality will be obtained. As a value adding feature, if there is fire in the locality, the system detects it and inform the fire extinguishing agencies enabling them reach the site with least time lag. IOT is employed in this system thus exploiting the latest technology. The system is capable of detecting the prime air polluting agents like CO, CO2, SO2 and hazardous levels of sound pollution. IOT enables to access data from a remote location and record it in a database that can be retrieved anytime for further processing. The processed information is fed in an effectively readable form to the relevant agencies.
