Zusammenfassung

Ein Message-Handling-System erfordert benutzerfreundliche Konventionen für die Namen von Sendern und Empfängern von Nachrichten. Ein Directory-Service unterstützt zum einen die Benutzer des Systems bei der Ermittlung korrekter Namen, zum anderen das Transfersystem bei der Ermittlung von Adressen und Routen. Dieses Papier beschreibt das Architekturmodell, das Datenmodell, die Dienste und Protokolle für einen auf internationalen Standards basierenden verteilten Directory-Dienst für das Message-Handling-System im Deutschen Forschungsnetz.
