Abstract
In general, the academic procrastination behaviour is a problem for many college students. A student procrastinates with regard to starting an assignment, and is unable to devote enough time to complete the assignment. As a result, there is a risk of a decrease in the quality of the assignment or of missing the deadline. This paper makes the hypothesis that procrastination is related to the following factors: (1) the difficulty of each assignment, (2) the student’s interest in the programming used and in each assignment, (3) the level of procrastination, and (4) the student’s understanding of the programming. This paper also performs a covariance structure analysis to confirm the relationships. According to the result of the analysis, there are also some problems in the analysis and in the model. In the future, we will improve the model and develop a system to prevent procrastination based on this model.
