Abstract
The Digital Ecosystem has experienced a global expansion and growth of new business models, social relationships and exchange of information. The system evolves very rapidly, and innovation and competition bring opportunities for new agents, changing the conventional model of business evolution. The concept of EED makes it possible to analyse the dynamics that firms and other agents are subjected to as the ecosystem evolves in the long-run. Open collaboration strengthens the power of the network. In the future the contribution of digital agents to economic growth and development may also bring a new political and social order, where conventional and traditional power patterns may change significantly. Global regulation of the Digital Ecosystem and Internet Governance are key elements to understand the future paths of this evolution.
