Abstract

This chapter describes the important class of Markov models. It starts with a presentation of the deterministic ODE models. We then formulate precisely the random Markov epidemic model as a Poisson process driven stochastic differential equation, and establish the law of large numbers (later referred to as LLN), whose limit is precisely the already described ODE model.
