Abstract
The GABA-A/benzodiazepine (BZ) receptor complex consists of a chloride channel which is gated by the inhibitory neurotransmitter, GABA. A number of therapeutically important drugs, such as benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and steroid anesthetics interact with the receptor complex and alloste-rically modulate the receptor (Olsen et al., 1988).
