Abstract
Alterations in glutamatergic neurotransmission mediated by excitatory amino acid (EAA) receptors are involved in the pathogenesis of several neurological disorders caused by either chronic or acute events (Meldrum, 1990). Accordingly, new neuroprotective strategies aimed at reducing glutamatergic receptor overstimulation have been proposed.
