Principal Components Analysis is a psychometric statistical procedure designed to identify subscales within a scale. In a large questionnaire this procedure helps to make sense of the pattern of relationships between the variables by identifying clusters of variables that are strongly correlated with each other and relatively uncorrelated with other variables.
