Abstract
This paper presents an overview of data management issues for TINA platforms. TINA networks increase the need to integrate in a more seamless framework data management, distributed computing and management facilities to provide in a dynamic and flexible way new telecom services. To serve this purpose, FT/CNET has conducted, since the beginning of TINA, architectural studies on the data aspects in the TINA framework and has co-operated with both industrial and academic partners to different experiments in this field. The first experiment is a persistence and query service strongly based on OMG specifications but with optimised extensions to match TINA needs The second experiment is a CMIS like TINA management service strongly based on federated DBMS technology. This paper presents a balance sheet of all this approach.
