Recent advances in ammonia synthesis technologies: Toward future zero carbon emissions
2023, International Journal of Hydrogen EnergyCitation Excerpt :Ammonia production technologies using renewable energy sources are described in Table 5. Alternative ammonia production techniques can achieve sustainable future ammonia production, where ammonia can be directly generated by the electrochemical process by combining N2 and water [147]. It is considered an attractive ammonia synthesis technology because ammonia is generated at lower pressure and temperature, but it still needs more development [148].
In-situ synthesis of hydrogen peroxide in tandem with selective oxidation reactions: A mini-review
2015, Catalysis TodayCitation Excerpt :Further experiments suggest that the principal role of metallic palladium was to generate hydrogen peroxide in-situ, being the copper chloride species responsible for the hydroxylation of the hydrocarbons into their corresponding alcohols [73,105]. A similar catalytic system was studied by Park et al. [106] who observed that in the presence of copper chloride, the metallic palladium can be partly oxidised into Pd(II) species, responsible of the selective activation of methane and the formation of CF3COOCH3 and formic acid. On the other hand, metallic palladium remains key for the in-situ formation of H2O2.
Oxidative functionalization of alkanes under dioxygen in the presence of homogeneous noble metal catalysts
2014, Journal of Molecular Catalysis A: ChemicalCitation Excerpt :One of possible routes to further advance in this direction is processing in liquid films deposited onto a support. For instance, acetoxylation of ethylene was carried out with the film of acetic acid covering the Pd/SiO2 surface [70]. Solutions of metal complexes in high-boiling solvents can be immobilized on solid porous substrates just as it is done in gas chromatography.
Methane oxidation using silica-supported N-bridged di-iron phthalocyanine catalyst
2012, Journal of CatalysisCitation Excerpt :A process based on the direct conversion of methane to methanol in a single step might provide advantages if high selectivity can be achieved at a sufficient level of conversion with the appropriate terminal oxidant, which for commercial purposes has to be molecular oxygen. A number of materials have been proposed for the low-temperature activation of methane [3–8]. Most of these are homogenous catalysts and use strong acidic conditions for the transformation.
