Abstract

The behavior of heteronuclear spin systems in phase-switched cross-polarization experiments is analyzed. The appearance and the quenching of transient oscillations are discussed. The analysis is based on a two-spin IS system, weakly interacting with additional I spins, under simultaneous π phase shifts of both radiofrequency fields as they are used in a technique, called "MOIST," for the enhancement of the cross-polarization efficiency. Experimental results are presented for 1H-13C cross polarization in a single crystal of ferrocene.
